Absences from school
What to do if my child is ill?
Please ring into the office before 9.30am on each day of absence. If your child is away for more than two days then please write a note explaining why they were away and send this into school with your child when they return to school or hand it into the office.
Please keep your child away from school for 48 hours after any episode of vomiting or diarrhoea in order to minimise the spread of infection.
If a child becomes ill during the school day and needs to be sent home, the office staff will contact first parents then other contacts listed on the child’s Data Collection sheet, which is revised annually. Please keep us informed of any change of contact numbers during the year.
Holidays in school time
Holidays must not be taken during School Term time. Please see the Attendance Policy for information regarding authorised/unauthorised absences in term time, which was revised in October 2020 following government and county guidelines. In an exceptional circumstance, where your child may require absence, please complete the absence form which is available from the School Office.
Letters to parents concerning absence/lateness
Each term the Educational Welfare Service comes into school to look at all attendance records. If patterns or the level of attendance/lateness cause concern letters are sent to parents. Please see our Attendance Policy for more details.
