In Reception we have two classes - Oak Class and Ash Class.

In Oak Class, Mrs Van Calenberg is the class teacher whilst in Ash Class it is Mrs Watkins and Miss Turner. They are supported by Mrs Karim, Mrs Musa Roberts and Mrs Davies.

In Reception we continue the Early Years Foundation Stage which the children began in Nursery. The Foundation Stage Curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning. The prime areas are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language. The four specific areas are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

In Reception, we learn through play, child-initiated and adult-led activities. Our ongoing provision enables children to use the knowledge and practise the skills that they learn in our adult-led inputs.

We teach early reading and phonics using The Little Wandle scheme.
